SwiftTest Delivers 10GbE Storage Validation Appliance

8 ports, with expanded protocol support

SwiftTest, Inc., in infrastructure performance validation, announced its 10G Series 8-port appliances with expanded protocol support.

The new appliances and protocols give storage vendors a new load generation capability to stress their file, block and object-based storage systems at extreme scale. This will result in faster time to market for product development while delivering higher performance and more reliable storage systems for their end-users.

The new 10G series was built with the intelligence and performance to validate the most powerful storage systems with accurate, realistic workloads and up to eight 10GbE interfaces per appliance. It offers 4x the total I/O bandwidth, 4x the IO/s, and 4x the user capacity as previous generation solutions from SwiftTest in same 2RU footprint. It delivers 120% more IO/s performance and 30% higher I/O bandwidth performance over competitive offerings. Flexible system under test connectivity options include 10GE SFP+, which supports fiber and direct attached copper, and 10GBASE-T copper.

We are deploying the new SwiftTest 10G Series product due to its unique ability to comprehensively validate the performance of the largest Nimbus Data all-flash storage systems available today,” stated Thomas Isakovich, CEO and founder, Nimbus Data Systems, Inc.Given the unsurpassed performance and scalability of our Gemini all-flash arrays, we needed a realistic workload modeling and performance validation solution that can test and validate our products at extreme scale. Our use of SwiftTest re-enforces what our current customers already know – that we take performance scalability and product reliability to an entirely new level.”

SwiftTest is also releasing version 3.4 of its appliance OS and test development environment (TDE) which now supports prevalent cloud and object storage protocols, including support for SNIA CDMI and OpenStack Swift. The appliances now support pNFS, NFSv4.1 Threading, and SCSI Streaming Commands.

SwiftTest is delivering several innovations in its SwiftTest Enterprise workload modeling and performance validation suite. Workloads can now be modeled in high fidelity for a more realistic representation of production applications. In addition to modeling the command mix distribution, users can now model directory structures, file size distribution, folder structure, block size distribution and I/O direction.

SwiftTest Enterprise now supports a collaborative testing environment that will increase the productivity of engineering and QA teams. The new version supports global and local collaboration through shared test libraries, shared visual test beds, and shared results. The ability to share resources, such as multiple SwiftTest appliances, across the organization enables increased utilization of each appliance and increases ROI.

SwiftTest storage performance validation appliances help storage engineering and QA teams accelerate the discovery and resolution of performance problems and scaling limitations by showing how different product configurations and feature sets impact overall performance,” said Philippe Vincent, president and CEO, SwiftTest. “By combining our advanced workload modeling and extended protocol support with these much higher port densities, SwiftTest is the only performance validation solution available today that can methodically validate the limits of the largest networked storage infrastructures.”

The new products are available.
