Ingram Micro Has Its Own MLC SSDs Through Subsidiary V7
7mm 2.5-inch, 6Gb SATA, LSI/SandForce SF-2281 controller, $280 for 256GB
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 7, 2013 at 2:36 pmV7, provider of computer accessories worldwide and a division of Ingram Micro Inc., introduced its V7 Elite 2.5-inch SSDs, offering performance and a thin profile to meet the demands for fast, dependable, compact storage for ultrabooks, laptops, desktop PCs and servers.
Elite 2.5-inch SSDs are for users of desktop and laptop PCs, and administrators of mass storage servers who desire to boost system responsiveness above and beyond current capacities. Offering compelling advantages over traditional HDD drives, SSDs have grown in popularity in both the consumer and enterprise information technology sectors. Elite 2.5-inch SSDs capitalize on these technology benefits and offer features and functionality to support performance gains for computing application.
“As today’s laptops and servers become thinner and more compact, there is a tremendous demand for small-form factor storage that delivers greater speed, lower power consumption, greater reliability and exceptional durability,” said Rainer Kozlik, VP and GM of Ingram Micro’s Global V7 private label group. “Upgrading HDDs to SSDs is one of the best upgrades you can make, as HDDs tend to be among the biggest bottlenecks in performance. V7 Elite 2.5-inch solid state drives give users significant technology benefits, including fast start-up and application launch times, power efficiency, and data integrity in a form factor that is virtually indestructible.”
Features, Pricing and Availability
V7 is making its new lineup of Elite 2.5-inch SDD products available to e-retailers and channel partners worldwide.
The products address consumers’ needs for speed and system responsiveness. Because of its high-speed SATA-III/6 Gb/s interface, the SSD drives are typically 90% faster than traditional HDDs, and deliver start-up times that are more than 75% faster, enabling more rapid boot-up times.
Offering R/W speeds of 550/530MB/s, and up to 4K random R/W of 28,000/90,000IO/s, the Elite SSD product line maximizes system performance by handling large amounts of data for improved system responsiveness. Users will realize faster application launch and shut-down times, and higher sustained read, write and sequential speeds.
Elite SSD products leverage reliable and enduring flash components. Impressive power and write specifications are delivered via use of MLC NAND flash technology and the data compression SandForce SF-2281 controller.
Featuring a slim 7mm design, Elite SSDs deliver benefits over HDDs in that they have no moving parts, eliminating mechanical failure and noise concerns. This also lessens power consumption, improves battery life and lowers heat signature – all benefits for low-profile notebooks, servers and other devices. SSDs are rugged, functioning in extreme temperatures and able to withstand up to a 100G shock resistance rating and G-force, yielding a robust storage solution that can withstand the intense environmental factors.
Additionally, they yield benefits from a data integrity perspective. As they cannot crash and lose data, information remains intact and accessible for years to come. The drives feature S.M.A.R.T. to detect and report on reliability indicators and support optimal operation. The drives are also TRIM-compatible. TRIM support is essential for an SSD to run optimally and extend the life of the drive.
Pricing for the Elite 2.5-inch family of SSDs is MSRP $149.99 for the 128GB capacity (VBS3128GR-3N) and MSRP $279.99 for 256GB (VBS3256GR-3N). They are backed by a limited two-year warranty.
