Tonido Brings Remote File Access to Windows 8 Devices

CodeLathe LLC. launched a Windows 8 mobile app that lets individuals watch videos, listen to music, see photos and open documents that are stored on their computer (PC, Mac or Linux).

This cloud service allows Windows 8 device users to enjoy and share their media without worrying about storage limits, privacy and data security.

“Typically, Microsoft Surface RT and other Windows 8 tablet devices have limited built-in storage – 32GB to Max 128GB at most,” said Anis Abdul, CTO, CodeLathe. “If you have a large personal media collection, this will not be enough storage space. Tonido’s Windows 8 app solves the storage problem by allowing users to directly access and stream media stored on their home servers and PCs from anywhere.”

Tonido offers users access to their home computer’s entire collection of documents, photos, music and videos from anywhere without having to upload them to a public cloud service. Individuals download the free Tonido server app to their desktop and the free Windows 8 app to their mobile devices.

The app connects users to the files stored on their desktop withins. Users can access their files via Wi-Fi or 3G mobile networks, backup their photos and videos from their Windows 8 devices to their Tonido personal cloud and download files for offline viewing.
