Solutions, LLC. announced a hardware and OS upgrade to its EVO
shared storage server with EVO
v5.5.

This release includes project/asset management
functionality, quota features, and doubled storage scalability for
production teams of any size. It’s SNS’s complete shared storage
server with SAN and NAS features. The ‘All in One Box’ system
combines a high-performance storage array – capable of nearly 2.5GB/s throughput and 4K support – with connectivity options including
1/10GbE and 8/16Gb FC. It can be a SAN, a NAS, or both
at the same time, and is developed and tuned for the
workflow needs of TV, film, video, graphics, VFX, animation, audio,
and broadcast production environments.

Among upgrades to the system this introduces and includes
functionality that can tie all site-wide storage and project/media
management into a single window.

A new client interface – similar to Finder/Explorer but created by
SNS for professional media teams – enables users to search across all
storage as well as local, offline, and other network disks. Files can
now be indexed on the fly, and users can find, preview, and share
media assets and projects. The interface also offers the capability
to ingest and migrate data using built-in verification.

"Content creators have to deal with media and projects
across a diversity of storage types and locations," stated

many different utilities and wading through lots of windows just to
find what they needed, so we’re working to simplify all of that. Our
new interface goes well beyond EVO and aims to coordinate all
necessary storage under a single umbrella for editors. The interface
provides at-a-glance key information – even for offline storage – and
simplifies common storage operations like finding files, mounting,
previewing, opening, locking, and migrating. The result is a
far-reaching lasso that can streamline the interactions between media
teams and their storage assets."

It gives professional media creation teams total flexibility with
built-in SAN and NAS, 100% more storage capacity, enhanced features
like automatic project file locking, project/bin sharing, RAID-5/6,
NAS quotas, and remote monitoring and setup.
