The appointment of Taptich, a seasoned veteran in the consumer technology space, comes as Bitcasa enters its next phase of growth.

Most recently, Taptich was VP of international development at Zynga, where he led the strategic direction and execution of all international initiatives. Prior to that, he was a strategic advisor and investor for Davis Shapiro Media Advisors, where he worked with emerging digital media start-ups. He has also held senior executive positions in corporate strategy, business development and marketing at BitTorrent and Electronic Arts.
Taptich holds a B.A. from Williams College and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management.

Taptich replaces Tony Gauda, who has stepped down after building the company over the past two years and is credited for building out the core technology behind Bitcasa.
