Promise Exhibited Pegasus2 RAID With Thunderbolt 2

Running bi-directionally at 20Gbs

PROMISE
Technology, Inc
. demonstrated the next generation Pegasus2 Series
with Thunderbolt 2 Technology at Intel’s Developer Forum.

The company shipped the first storage solutions
with the original Thunderbolt technology and continues with the
Pegasus2 series.

Thunderbolt technology is an enabler for video
with its performance and bandwidth, and Thunderbolt 2
embraces the growing 4K applications in media and entertainment,
mobility and computing. Running bi-directionally at 20Gbps, double
the bandwidth of Thunderbolt, it is tailored for video creators as it
enables simultaneous 4K video file transfer and display. The
advancement in bandwidth will enable professionals to edit and view
live 4K streams while backing up the same file to a Pegasus2 system,
all with the same cables and connectors as the previous generation.

The series is the first RAID-5 solution with
Thunderbolt 2 technology, delivering portable RAID systems for
offsite shoots and enabling backups of terabytes of data in minutes.
The model on display at IDF 2013 maximized the available line rate of
Thunderbolt 2 to provide fast transfer speeds to accelerate and
simplify 4K workflows, and maximizes capacity while offering RAID
protection. Additionally, the company exhibited SANLink2 – a
Thunderbolt 2 to 8Gb FC bridge – which provides connectivity to VTrak
storage and VTrak A-Class shared SAN solution, enabling 4K
environments.

"PROMISE was the first company to ship
Thunderbolt storage solutions in response to the insatiable demand
for bandwidth by our customers in the media and entertainment market
who are creating brilliant rich media content,
" said James
Lee, CEO, PROMISE. "With the industry now poised
for the widespread adoption of 4K video, the Pegasus2 Series with
Thunderbolt 2 technology will revolutionize how video creators are
managing 4K workflows in addition to delivering unprecedented
performance to artists and enthusiasts who love to create captivating
content.
"

"By doubling the bandwidth to 20Gbps,
Thunderbolt 2 is crucial for professionals and enthusiasts,
"
said Jason Ziller, marketing director for Thunderbolt, Intel
Corp.
"The PROMISE Pegasus2 Series maximizes how
Thunderbolt 2 delivers performance that creates new possibilities for
anyone working with 4K video, rich media content or data-intensive
tasks.
"

Supporting both OS X and
Windows platforms, the Pegasus2 Series and SANLink2 Series will be
available in Fall 2013.
