Software Generation Ltd (SGL), a provider
of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment announced
an integration project with storage industry firm Object Matrix Ltd.
SGL’s FlashNet archive and Object Matrix’s near-line storage platform,
MatrixStore, will provide a solution to allow broadcasters, post facilities and
content owners to move material from MatrixStore to the deep archive via the
SGL FlashNet archive. Content moves will be based on rules defined by the
operator. Object Matrix is carrying out the integration using SGL’s XML API
with the combined offering slated for shipping in Q4 2013.
MatrixStore is an object-based, plug-and-play storage application that allows
users to keep their digital information online and protected with minimal
administrative effort. Taking advantage of commodity storage hardware it
provides a secure, scalable online repository for digital assets. Not tied to
proprietary hardware the software uses high-quality, off-the-shelf disk-based
storage hardware.
Nick Pearce, sales and marketing director, Object Matrix, says: "With production storage at a premium, the
need for integrated tiered storage platforms is booming, as such we’re
delighted to announce this integration with SGL at IBC 2013. The combined
solution will provide customers with an automated and seamless means of moving material
to the most appropriate tier of storage in line with business requirements. As
well as simplifying the storage workflow, this delivers a significant ROI
ensuring content can be used and re-used on demand regardless of where it
resides. SGL is a well-respected company with an excellent track record and
we’re looking forward to announcing our first joint customer in the very near
future."
Raj Patel, SGL’s product manager, adds: "We’re very pleased to announce this integration with Object Matrix at
IBC. SGL’s API provides third-parties with an open system architecture that
allows easy integration with SGL FlashNet. Our products and services are
designed and produced in conjunction with all of the leading broadcast vendors
in all arenas, providing seamless operation in any broadcast environment. This
ensures that the archive appears as a transparent storage area available to
every user in all departments from within their day-to-day applications."-
