Proximal Data and LSI Corporation Collaborate

Caching technology integrated with PCIe flash Nytro

Proximal Data, Inc., a provider of hypervisor I/O intelligence software solutions,
is teaming up with LSI Corporation to integrate its
server-side caching technology with PCIe flash LSI Nytro application
acceleration products.

The integrated solutions are designed to accelerate application performance in
VMware environments by reducing I/O bottlenecks and increasing the number of
VMs supported per server by up to three times.

The collaboration evolved from the success of Proximal Data and LSI’s established
relationship in which the companies recommend Proximal Data’s AutoCache
server-side caching software with Nytro WarpDrive application acceleration
cards to their respective customers. AutoCache increases VM
density with no impact on IT operations. It plugs into
hypervisors such as VMware’s ESXi, and transparently
works on all I/O without requiring agents in guest OSs. AutoCache places hot
I/O onto Nytro PCIe flash cards to supply priority
data traffic to VMs.

"We see strong demand from customers
for a solution to optimize the performance of their VMware deployments without
disrupting their IT operations,
" said Manish Muthal, VP of product
management and strategy, accelerated solutions division, LSI. "Proximal Data enables accelerated
performance in virtualized environments without requiring an agent to be
installed in guest VMs. The technology is easy to deploy and supports all major
OSs, making it a very cost-effective solution for helping customers optimize
the performance of their business applications and migrate additional workloads
to virtualized environments.
"

"LSI technology is widely deployed
in data center environments to provide highly reliable and scalable enterprise
storage,
" said Rory Bolt, CEO, Proximal Data. "LSI is a leading provider of enterprise
flash storage solutions that deliver high performance, availability and TCO
benefits. The company’s Nytro technology is well-suited for virtualized
environments and works in harmony with our technology to provide a more
affordable option than other methods of solving the I/O bottleneck.
"

AutoCache works within a VMware environment and in concert with operations such
as vMotion and VAAI. It can also be managed from within vCenter/vSphere.
Customers have used AutoCache to improve the performance of
business-critical applications that are running in virtualized environments,
realizing return on their investment in AutoCache.
