Veeam Explodes in Storage Software: 99.7% Y/Y Growth – IDC
CommVault not bad at 20.5% in WW market up 4.1% from 2Q12 to 2Q13

"Data protection and recovery software and storage and device management software were the two biggest sources of growth this quarter," said Eric Sheppard, research director, storage software, IDC. "Once again, organizations continued to invest in storage software that improves the resiliency and operational efficiencies within their storage infrastructure."
EMC, IBM, and Symantec were the top ranking storage software suppliers with 25.6%, 16.0%, and 14.8% market share, respectively. Veeam and CommVault experienced the largest organic growth during the quarter with 99.7% and 20.5% Y/Y growth, respectively.
Among the storage software market segments, Data Protection and Recovery software revenues were up 8.9% year over year to nearly $1.3 billion. Storage and Device Management software revenues experienced year-over-year growth of 9.1%, reaching $674 million in 2Q13.

EMC, IBM and Symantec are the well-established top three leaders since several quarters in the WW market of storage software but their growth, between only -0.8% and 1.7%, is below the global market growth at 4.1%. They are losing market share in front of hundreds of competitors.
For newcomer Veeam, 99.7% is an enormous score compared to 1Q13 where IDC recorded a Y/Y growth of "only" 35.4%. For CommVault, it was 23.0% and here it is 20.5%. Few days ago, Veeam said it has been profitable since 2009 and currently has 19,000 ProPartners and 73,000 customers worldwide.
