The two companies will be demonstrating their joint solution at IBC 2013.
Comprised of axle Video’s browser-based media management software and LaCie’s 5big NAS Pro storage which offers a cloud-based storage option, users can now start with a scalable investment and gain flexibility, performance, security, and ease of use.
The solution is compatible with virtually any folder organization, and search, review, collaboration and storage management are all accomplished through browser-based user interfaces.
"Smaller media producers face the same challenges of managing expanding quantities of media, locating material, collaborating more easily, and reducing complexity as larger facilities", said Sam Bogoch, CEO, axle Video. "But the management and storage options available to them have often been much too complex or expensive for their operations. By teaming with LaCie, we’re helping to change that."
axle Video media management lets users browse, select, log, collaborate, and approve using transparently created media proxies.
The original media can reside on LaCie 5big NAS Pro as networked HDD storage, cloud-based storage, or both.
The option of cloud storage means that users can start with a reasonable investment, and scale storage up or down as needed. In addition, recent optimizations to LaCie’s NAS OS 3 mean that network write and read speeds to and from RAID-5 can exceed 100MB/s, making 1080p editing possible.
"There is real synergy between our companies and we think this joint solution is an important development for anyone working with digital media. It addresses a very real, widespread need with a new approach that offers quality tools, ease of use, and accessibility at a new level of affordability that provides a faster ROI," said Clement Barberis, LaCie channel marketing specialist. "And, in addition to the benefits of having both NAS and cloud storage, media is better protected with LaCie SimplyRAID, as well as the extra measure of security of backing up media to the cloud and retrieving through a simple UI."
axle 2013 software starts at $1,295/€1,095 for five users and is available.
LaCie 5big NAS Pro starts at $529/€509 and is available.
