XenData in Partnership With Blue Lucy Media
To deliver partial restore for LTO archive server
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 5, 2013 at 2:15 pmXenData Ltd, provider
of LTO archive solutions to the media and entertainment industry, has partnered
with Blue Lucy Media Ltd, a
UK-based provider of video processing modules and asset management, to
offer partial restore capabilities for the entire XenData LTO archive server
range.
The Tailor Partial Restore Module is a new software-based plug-in that will
enable users to split large video files stored on LTO cartridges
into multiple clip files and transfer the clips over a network.
With digital video there is often a need to read only a section of a large high
resolution file, such as in the case of sports highlights. Through partial
restore, users define the start and finish time codes for the clip and a new
file is created which contains only the required content. This reduces the time
to restore from the video archive and minimizes the load on the network.
Other features of Tailor Partial Restore module include:
- Automatically creates frame accurate
low resolution proxies in H.264 MP4 that may be accessed via a web interface to
define the start and finish time codes for the partial restore from the high
resolution file. -
Alternatively, the module may be accessed directly via a SOAP and REST API for
integration into other systems. -
‘Stitch’ or ‘splice’ capabilities concatenates a number of clips together to
create a new clip that can be written anywhere in the network. -
Supports typical master video formats including IMX, XDCAM,
DNxHD ProRes, AVCi-100 in .mxf, .mov and .avi containers -
Files output from Tailor may be re-striped with new user defined time-code if
required.
"By integrating the new Blue Lucy
module into the XenData range of LTO archive solutions, we have created a
standards based LTO archive solution with fast partial restore capabilities,"
said Phil Storey, XenData co-founder and CEO. "The combined solution does not compromise our use of either LTFS or TAR
formats on the LTO cartridges which is an important consideration to prevent
vendor lock-in."
The Tailor Partial Restore module will be available later this year from
XenData Authorized Business Partners WW. It will be demonstrated for the first
time at IBC, September 12-17, 2013 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
