According to the report, the main factor which is driving the SAN market is its improved scalability. With SAN, there is no restriction or limitation on the volume of data that can be stored as is the case with other forms of storage such as disk storage. SAN is scalable and can be expanded to a considerable extent. SANs are also efficient and their performance is not affected by Ethernet traffic or local disk throughput blockages. Data transferred from a SAN and to a SAN are on two separate networks, leading to reduced network clogging or congestion.
