System Fabric Works With Lustre Solutions

Featuring Intel Enterprise Edition for Lustre and NetApp E-series storage

Lustre is the highest-performance file system available, but until now it has required substantial expertise to architect, deploy, and support.

System Fabric Works (SFW) has leveraged the release of Intel Enterprise Edition for Lustre to simplify Lustre deployment for enterprise storage. A focus on stability, supportability, and ease-of-deployment drove completion of Intel Enterprise Edition for Lustre.

While Intel’s value-added software is the enabler for ease of Lustre deployment and use, the Lustre parallel architecture needs fast hardware to deliver high performance. This makes NetApp E-Series storage a prime option. It delivers the combined performance, density, and energy efficiency to deliver outcomes for enterprise, big data, and HPC projects.

When properly architected and deployed, individual E-Series arrays can deliver up to 12GB/s of reads and up to 9GB/s of writes. This level of performance has made them the storage of choice for large Lustre projects, supplying as much as 1.3TB/s of aggregate bandwidth (for a Lustre storage system at Lawrence Livermore National Labs).

System Fabric Works has combined Intel Enterprise Edition for Lustre and NetApp E-Series into an easily-deployed Lustre Configurable Unit (LCU) that allows customers to use and scale a Lustre file system without having to make a substantial investment in Lustre training and system design. SFW and Intel are working together to reduce the risk, minimize the cost, and maximize the benefits of deploying Lustre.
