With the
success of the NBA franchise, there is a greater demand for
a variety of content. The footage created by the media team needs to be ingested and secured to ensure a turnaround of incoming
media to finished content being broadcast.

Some of the challenges they faced were:

  • How to store incoming content using an affordable parking storage solution.
  • How to manage various formats and wrappers during the ingest process.
  • How to create links between full resolution and low resolution content from
    within the production environment.

After considering different options including additional on-line storage,
a strategic decision was made to implement a tiered-storage solution thus
ensuring the content resides on the most appropriate tier of storage at any given
stage of the production workflow. The vendors chosen to implement that
strategic vision, Glookast and Object Matrix, were selected as they have the capabilities and products to overcome those workflow challenges.

The
combined solution provides efficiencies through automation of the ingest
process thereby ensuring the best use of the storage infrastructure. The
automated process also enables the media team at the Heat to spend less time on
laborious and often error prone tasks.

"We have been working with the Heat
for six months on designing the appropriate workflow that both meets their
requirements while also staying within budget. The combination of Glookast’s
ingests solutions along with Object Matrix’s storage technology allowed us to
provide a solution that exceeded their expectations
", said Edel Garcia,
executive VP sales, Glookast.

Nick Pearce, co-founder, Object Matrix, stated: "The interest in the integrated workflow has been strong across the USA
and Europe since we announced it at NAB this year. To win our first US
customer with that workflow is very exciting and more so that the customer is
the Miami Heat.
