Apacer: 22-Pin 6Gb SATA MLC SSD

Sequential R/W speed at 315/145MB/s, up to 128GB

Apacer Technology Inc. launches SDM5 (SATA Disk Module) which adopts the SATA 3 (6Gb) transmission interface, Toggle DDR 2.0 NAND flash, as well as the specifically designed 2-channel bidirectional structure.

The sequential R/W speed reaches 315/145MB/s and provide performance of high speed read, all of which enable the SDM5 to fast storage solutions.

Apacer SDM5 connector adopts standard 7-pin signal and 15-pin power male SATA connector. To provide flexibility, Apacer rolls out two new designs – perpendicular (at 90-degree) and parallel (at 180-degree) – for 22-pin SATA connectors.

Jeff Lin, embedded application product division senior director of Apacer indicated: "In order to satisfy the user-specific needs for various mechanisms, we will introduce perpendicularly and parallel modularized solutions at the same time. Thus, the customer will have diverse choices in accordance with the motherboard design demands, without being limited to the joint direction of solid state drive, and develop more diversified top products at the lowest cost."

The SDM5 uses MLC chip, featuring cost-effectiveness and the capacity of up to 128GB.

Regarding the reliability, SDM5 complies with MIL-STD-810F, certification standard in the American military regulation. It can resist the system vibration, shock impact and requirement for high and low temperature.

The product will also undergo ORT (on-going reliability testing) upon mass production to ensure the reliability and service life of the products.

In terms of software, SDM5 is equipped with 40-bit ECC, SMART, ATA Secure Erase command to help boost the product reliability and stability. With the support of Windows 7 TRIM command to keep the SSD in optimum status, the SDM5 is the prime choice among stable storage solutions.

Samples of SATA Disk Module5 industrial SSD series are available for evaluations and testing.
