Qnap Adopting Zyxel 10GbE

ZyXEL Communications
Corp. announced a partnership with QNAP Systems
Inc. to create 10GbE-powered NAS solution packs for SMBs.

The solution packs include ZyXEL’s XGS1900
series Web-managed smart 10GbE switches and QNAPs TS-870U-RP
NAS appliance.

Constrained by limited resources, many SMBs
utilize virtualization technology to improve operational efficiency and
maintain data security. Leveraging virtualization enables SMBs to make better
use of their resources – both infrastructure and staff. For example,
virtualization allows organizations to consolidate multiple application
workloads on fewer physical hosts, reducing costs and enabling efficiency.

To capitalize on the benefits of
virtualization, SMBs need fast network and high performance storage solution. The
10G switches and NAS solution pack meets the SMBs needs. The joint solution
assures compatibility with a range of virtualization platforms offering data
centers operators the reliability of a robust solution at an attractive price
point.

Together the products alleviate network
congestion and deliver backup and DR capabilities to SMBs. This is critical as
more connected devices are added to the network, and the popularity of
applications like video processing, business analytics and multimedia that
demand large bandwidths and big storage keep escalating.

The XGS1900 series include 24 and 48 port
10G Web smart switches (XGS1910-24/48). The XGS1910-24 (48) switch comes with 2
(4) form-factor SFP+ ports for 10G uplinks and / or stacking. This feature
eliminates the need for additional modules for 10G support. Some of the main
features include efficiency in network traffic management, QoS (QoS) and VLAN
features such as Media Access Control (MAC), protocol-based VLAN and guest
VLAN.

The TS-x70 series include the 12-bay
TS-1270U-RP and the 8-bay TS-870U-RP aim to offer business users a 10 GbE NAS
solution. Powered by a Dual-core Intel 2.4GHz processor, it is equipped with
4GB DDR3 RAM, which can be upgraded to 16GB optionally. These models can store
up to a maximum of 48 TB or 32 TB of storage to fulfill business applications
including high speed backup, server virtualization, iSCSI IP-SAN, video storage
and centralized shared storage.

The two companies have created two 10GbE powered storage solution pack:

• Performance pack with 24-port 10G switch
  (XGS1910-24) and an 8-bay NAS (TS-870U-RP) for $3,100 (approximate street price)

• Premium pack with one 48-port 10G switch (XGS1910-48) and a
  12-bay NAS (TS-1270U-RP) for $4,300
  (approximate street price).

The solution packs also include accessories
like the SFP+ interface card and cables.

In an effort to boost profit margins
for channel partners, they will receive an additional $500 discount on
Performance pack and $700 discount
on Premium pack over their distribution price when they purchase the entire
solution. Both the solution packs are available through authorized partners and
distributors.
