Samsung Offers Two Months of Free Bitcasa Cloud Storage

Cloud storage provider Bitcasa
Inc. announced in a recent blog
post
that all Samsung Ativ PC or tablet new customers will now be offered two
months of free infinite cloud storage.

The Bitcasa app will be pre-installed on all the Ativ Windows 8
devices and if a consumer decide to sign-up from within the app they
will get a two month trial of infinite cloud storage, an offer that
usually cost $10/month, but also 20GB of free storage for the lifetime of the device.

It’s not the first time that the company offers free cloud storage
with its products. Last September, it partnered with Dropbox to
offer 50GB of cloud storage for two years for Note II smartphone and
Galaxy camera customers.

And it’s not the only company doing
that. Google for example, also offers 1TB of Drive storage for three
years if you purchase a Chromebook Pixel, their Chrome OS laptop
(usually $50/month, making the offer worth $1,800)

Samsung tactics of
offering free Bitcasa cloud storage with their Windows 8 devices
could be damaging to Microsoft own cloud storage offer, SkyDrive – to be renames following trademark case with British Sky Broadcasting Group – ,
which is already natively implemented in all system running Windows
8, offering 7GB of storage and supposed to be even more tightly
linked to the OS in the upcoming 8.1 release.
