Infortrend Adding Thin Provisioning Software at no Cost

Infortrend
Technology Inc. announced that thin provisioning software
licenses will be offered as part of the EonStor
DS G7i Series standard software package.

At no extra cost, SMBs can optimise
storage utilisation and minimise data centre management requirements.

The thin provisioning technology allows
IT managers and data centre administrators to designate virtual
storage capacity regardless of data volume physical allocation. As
disk space is used only when data writing occurs, flexible and
on-demand thin provisioning optimises storage utilisation, simplifies
capacity planning and management, and helps reduce data centre power
consumption. Whereas previously thin provisioning licenses had to be
purchased separately, the company offers included licenses as
standard on select models.

Commenting on the announcement,
