The acquisition, expected to close the end of July 2013, will allow Sprague’s customers to have access to the range of NCE’s supply chain offerings including repair, spare parts, engineering, national on-site services, 24/7 technical support desk, and logistics services.
NCE will service Sprague’s customers from their ISO9001/14001 certified facilities in the US and UK.
NCE plans to maintain the full suite of Sprague’s current service capabilities and is employing its key individuals to assure a transition to NCE as a service provider.
This deal will strengthen NCE’s service portfolio with additional engineering and technical assets, while existing Sprague’s customers will experience no interruptions to their existing services and will gain access to expanded capabilities through a business relationship with NCE.
Sprague Magnetics Inc. adds several benefits
to the NCE repair portfolio, including:
- LTO head refurbishment technology and processes: Among independent repair providers in the US and EMEA, Sprague has head refurbishment technology for LTO and other leading head designs. This will enable NCE to better control the end-to-end repair process and reduce costs.
- New lines of business: Sprague has a business focus in aerospace, providing customized spare parts and repair services for in-flight entertainment systems found on many commercial airlines today. Aerospace customers include as Rockwell Collins and British Airways. Additionally, Sprague provides media and head analysis services to leading tape media companies.
- Complementary customer base: NCE and Sprague have little overlap in their respective customer bases, and NCE expects to realize revenue gains as part of this transaction. They have been meeting with Sprague’s customers over the past few weeks to address transition details of their business to NCE’s facilities.
