Studio Network Solutions Enlists Arista Networks

Arista Networks, Inc. announced
that its Arista 7048T switch has achieved quality assurance and certification
for Studio Network Solutions,
LLC (SNS) EVO shared storage solution.

The Arista 7048T was chosen by SNS due to its performance, low latency and industry
buffer capacity, all crucial elements for the high-level file-based media
creation and editing that SNS is revered for.

SNS is responsible for projects that have run the gamut across the media and
entertainment sector, creating and editing content on everything from major
motion pictures to books on tape, to name just a few. It needed a system that
would be able to support efficient editing and playback of high-resolution
video and audio in real-time without fear of data loss or delays. The 7048T
proved to be a fit for the standard in each of the demanding
media settings that SNS is entrenched in.

EVO is SNS’s shared storage server with SAN and NAS features. The ‘all-in-one box’ system combines a performance
storage array – capable of nearly 2.5GB/s throughput and 4k support – with connectivity options including 10 GbE and 8GB FC. EVO can be a SAN, a
NAS, or both at the same time, and is developed and tuned for the demanding
workflow needs of a plethora of production environments, including TV, film,
video, graphics, VFX, animation, audio, and broadcast.

The Arista 7048T is a data center class switch that supports 48 10/100/1000
BASE-T interface ports and four 1/10GbE SFP/SFP+ ports that provide
non-blocking performance for all ports. Unlike most 1GbE switches that are
designed for wiring closet deployments, the Arista 7048T provides a 16Mb of packet buffer per port that allows for smooth traffic delivery from high
speed 10GbE resources to 1GB attached workstations without loss of data under
high load conditions.
