Kerrville Independent School District Chooses Dell Networking

With EqualLogic

Dell, Inc announced that Kerrville Independent School District (Kerrville ISD) in Texas
upgraded its technology infrastructure to Dell Networking.

The school was seeking a faster solution than its existing Cisco networking to
help meet the increasing computing needs of its teachers and students.

Dell helped Kerrville ISD deploy a virtual desktop environment in its computer
labs to maximize teaching and learning whether at school or at home. Kerrville
already relies on Dell for its servers, storage, wireless, software, devices
and support and wanted to continue to build its technology ecosystem with the
same partner to gain efficiency and for IT administrators to have more time to
support technology integration into teaching and learning.

"Our goal is to give our students and
teachers a flexible, reliable and seamless learning environment so they can
concentrate on teaching and learning rather than worrying about whether the
technology will work and perform with enough speed,
" says Travis Cochrane, CTO,
Kerrville ISD. "Dell’s networking
technology proved to be a better fit for our schools than Cisco’s solution
because it delivers rapid connectivity with the greatest value and gives us the
capability to support future growth. With an end-to-end technology portfolio,
Dell makes it easy to deploy the technology we need to help advance students’
development of next generation skills.
"

Kerrville ISD combined Dell Networking with Dell PowerEdge servers and EqualLogic
storage to form the backbone of its infrastructure.

With the increased speed,
Kerrville can now support a desktop virtualization environment so its students
can access the schools’ learning resources from any of its Dell OptiPlex desktops,
Latitude notebooks or Dell Wyse zero clients. Dell simplifies the management of
Kerrville’s devices with KACE client systems management software and secures
its data with AppAssure. To maximize IT resources, the district will rely on Dell services to maintain its technology’s performance.
