Scottish Government Protects Data With Axxana

To meet BC goal of zero data loss

Axxana, Inc. announced that the Scottish Government has deployed its Phoenix System RP to meet its BC goal of zero data loss, and to reduce
ongoing replication costs.

Axxana’s DR system is capable of surviving any disaster while ensuring 100%
data protection and recovery over any distance, with continuous cost savings.

The Information Systems and Information Services (ISIS) Division of the
Scottish Government provides information and communications technology for its
own departments, as well as for a number of Non Departmental Public Bodies
(NDPBs) and agencies. The Scottish Government needed to demonstrate improved
resilience within their datacenter infrastructures to meet their own internal
compliance demands, and to provide that same capability to other public sector
bodies to use their datacenter facilities.

Andy McClintock, CTO, Scottish Government, said: "The data protection and DR solution from
Axxana enables us to fulfill BC requirements that we have set for our
Government and Public agencies. The simple deployment of the system, as well as
the delivery of RPO and RTO, have made this
decision an easy one for us.
"

The Phoenix System RP is a solution developed in
conjunction with EMC RecoverPoint, delivering synchronous replication benefits
over asynchronous infrastructure. The system is designed to protect data
through high application peaks or low-bandwidth availability, and
provides WAN link failure data protection.

"Axxana’s DR system is a perfect
complement to the Scottish Government’s existing infrastructure, and the
benefits they will realize – both in terms of data protection and cost savings
– are significant,
" said Paul Jassies, Axxana’s UK regional manager.
"We are confident that the
protection we have provided will ease their path toward becoming a core datacenter in Scotland.
"

In this application of the Phoenix System RP, EMC RecoverPoint sends data
asynchronously to remote sites, while Axxana protects a synchronous copy of
information inside a hardened ‘black box’ storage
device at the primary site. Following any disaster, the Phoenix System RP
rapidly extracts the protected data and transmits it to a remote site, where
the recovered information is reintegrated by EMC RecoverPoint with the
asynchronous remote copy, thus yielding, combined, a mirror image of the
data in the primary data center.
