Allant Group Customer of Kaminario
For K2 all-flash array
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 24, 2013 at 3:03 pmKaminario, Inc. announced that Allant
Group, Inc., a marketing and audience management platform, has selected the
Kaminario K2 all-flash storage array to reduce the time it takes to load and
update its audience interaction data and improve the response time for queries
while maintaining low latency.

After loading data onto K2 and running an online index-based update process,
Allant saw a 16-times improvement over its existing SSD storage array in
transaction elapsed time compared to running the same process on its previous
storage system.
Allant collects audience interaction data from a variety of media channels and
provides the data warehousing and big data business intelligence analytics to
enable advertisers and marketers to understand their audiences’ purchasing
behavior patterns. Extract, transform and load (ETL) processes and data
scrubbing, which are essential to maintaining Allant’s large data marts, can be
very time consuming. If there is an interruption to the ETL process, then
restarting it over again may not result in the updated data being available the
next business day.
"Before Kaminario, it could take up
to 30 hours to perform large ETL processes, making it challenging to have the
data ready for our clients by the next business day," explained John
Feldkamp, senior VP of IT services, Allant Group. "With Kaminario K2, we saw 16 times better performance. Our developers
and customers can now spend less time working around and scheduling around
performance concerns."
In addition to improving application and database response times, K2
saved Allant more than 3.5 hours in batch processing with millions of rows of
data (a mixed R/W workload) to the database. It also completed database
maintenance jobs three times faster.
Allant also wanted a storage system that could scale in performance, as the
business needs scaled, without increasing processing times. The company found
that as their needs grew, they could also grow the capacity and performance of
K2 without compromising on latency. K2 has a scale-out architecture that allows
customers to grow linearly resulting in high performing I/O and throughput,
without increasing latency. Allant also found the operation and maintenance easier than other SSD storage arrays they had tried.
"With Kaminario K2, our developers
and customers don’t have to deal with performance issues anymore,"
continued Feldkamp. "K2 has delivered consistent predictable performance
as promised. In addition, we’ve been very pleased by K2’s non-disruptive code
upgrades which allow us to update K2 firmware while it is still running."
"Big data analytics are
mission-critical for Allant’s extensive customer base of top-tier marketing and
advertising companies and they expect real-time feedback to their queries,"
said Dani Golan, CEO, Kaminario. "Our
recently announced, next-generation K2 all-flash storage array enables
companies like Allant and its customers to reduce the time it takes to get back
valuable information from massive amounts of data without compromising on
performance, resiliency or manageability."
