Second Gen of IBM Storwize V7000 Unified File Modules

Enables easy connections to office environments.

IBM Storwize V7000 Storage Systems introduces the
second generation of Storwize V7000 Unified File Modules.

Storwize V7000 Unified, a network-attached
appliance for the Storwize V7000 storage system to complement virtualized
server environments, provides access to unstructured data with
performance, availability, advanced functions, and scalable capacity in
a midrange disk system.

Comprised of two network-attached file modules
connected to an Storwize V7000 controller, Storwize V7000 Unified is a
powerful midrange disk system that has been designed to be easy to use and
enable rapid deployment without additional resources.

The new model 2073-720
file modules have the same features as the previous model with the addition of
a four-port 1GbE card in each file module, allowing easy connections to office
environments without using up expensive 10GbE network ports. Storwize V7000
Unified consolidates SAN and NAS workloads into a single storage system for
simplicity of management and reduced cost.

Key prerequisites
A complete Storwize V7000 Unified system requires two file modules and one
Storwize V7000 storage controller enclosure. Each File Module connects via FC
cables from the FC HBA in each module directly to the FC ports on the
controller canisters in the Storwize V7000 system.

Connection to each Storwize V7000 Unified systems
file module requires an Ethernet network.

Accessing the Storwize V7000 Unified system file
modules requires clients running file protocols such as NFS or CIFS protocols, or SCP, HTTPS, or FTP.

Planned availability date
July 19, 2013
