Blancco LUN Software for Data Erasure
Simultaneously erasing physical or logic drives in variety of OSs

As more data moves to VMs in
cloud computing environment, data centers need tools for erasing
virtual drives or entire LUNs, in addition to requirements for
erasing physical hard drives.
To meet these needs and comply with
data privacy standards and regulations, Blancco Oy Ltd offers Blancco
LUN – centralized data overwriting software that can
simultaneously erase physical drives, or logic drives in live
environments running a variety of OSs.
"It is critical that data
centers are able to target erasure for a specific logical unit number
(LUN) connected to a VM, for example, without interrupting operations
by requiring the entire storage array to go offline," said
Kim Väisänen, CEO and co-founder, Blancco. "Such erasure
must occur after DR testing, when data is no longer needed, after
data migration and for cloud hosting exit strategies. Blancco LUN
centralizes this targeted erasure for maximum operational efficiency,
as well as for growing compliance requirements."
It ensures that data centers comply
with internal security policies and practices, as well as industry
standards and regulations like the Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act in the US and the Payment Card Industry Data
Security Standard. When coupled with the management console, it
centralizes the erasure process for multiple physical or virtual
drives and provides a gapless audit trail complete with LUN or
physical drive details within an XML report.
It is also made for erasing the drives
of a SAN while leaving the OS intact. Secure erasure allows data
centers to reuse these high-end, complex storage arrays, return them
to a leasing company, or sell them for potential revenue.
It’s part of the company’s suite of
solutions for data erasure across all levels of a computing
environment-file, LUN, disk, server and storage.
