Maldivica Provides Access to Sohonet Media Storage Plartform

servicing the media industry, has selected the Maldivica Storage Connector to
provide file system based access to its cloud storage offering, the Sohonet
Media Storage platform.

Sohonet’s director of product management, Ben Dair, says: "The implementation of Maldivica’s proven and
robust technology ensures that we have created a particularly compelling
Storage offering for the media and entertainment industries, one that fully
capitalizes on the industry-recognized security and reliability of our renowned
Sohonet Media Network. Maldivica’s protocol translator is simple to install,
manage and remote-configure, enabling our 24/7 support engineers to monitor and
diagnose any problems quickly and effectively.
"

In addition to providing private network lines from point to point, Sohonet is
now extending beyond the network into new media aware infrastructure with Media Storage. It expands production and editing
storage capability without having to purchase and maintain hardware. It is built on OpenStack technology with embedded
redundancy that is accessed securely.

Sohonet and Maldivica share the same philosophy of scalable technology for accessing
the cloud. Maldivica empowers Sohonet to offer its array of clients a means of storing massive quantities of data without having to
write or maintain custom software. The flexibility that the Storage
Connector offers means that data inserted now into the cloud will be usable by
the next generation of storage applications without the need to upgrade systems
or migrate data. The Storage Connector is deployed onsite without
having to be installed on all machines that interface with the cloud. This way of approaching cloud storage is essential for the media
industry, whose growing storage needs often exceed the capabilities of current
legacy systems.

Maldivica stores customer data in its native format or using industry standard
AES-256 encryption. Organizations can access their
data how and where they choose, including the growing ecosystem of applications
that access the cloud directly. Extensive metadata extraction and tagging
capabilities simplifies indexing and searching content in object stores.

"We’re extremely pleased to be
selected by Sohonet to provide CIFS and NFS access to Sohonet Media Storage.
Object storage is a perfect fit for the demanding requirements of the Media and
Entertainment industry and Sohonet’s offering is filling a critical need,
"
says Adam Bane, Maldivica’s CEO. "Using
Maldivica, organizations can seamlessly integrate Sohonet Media Storage into
existing workflows, while maintaining the freedom to access content directly
through the storage API as their applications evolve.
