Quadstor Upgrades VTL Software

IB or 16Gb FC connectivity, able to build virtual tape drive array

QUADStor Systems has upgraded its VTL solution.

It has added many fixes and features to its open source VTL software since the first release.

IB and 16Gb FC
Virtual devices can be accessed over an IB or a 16Gb FC network. The need for faster backups and faster restores has been priority. This has also been the primary factor for the emergence and has been the promise of VTLs.

Virtual Tape Array
With the ability to now create standalone virtual tape drives, virtual tape drive arrays (VTA) can be built. VTA has cost benefits for an SMEs due to its simplicity and does not need addition backup application licenses for tape library management and sharing.

LTFS support

LTFS technology allows accessing tape using a file system interface. Similar to accessing a physical tape as file system, using LTFS technology a virtual tape can also be accessed using a file system interface.

Commercial support is available.
