Galileo Performance Explorer Enhances Storage Monitoring

Created and supported by ATS Group, Galileo Performance Explorer, a cloud-based performance monitoring tool for server and storage systems, has introduced a series of enhancements that expand its scope of storage performance monitoring.

New reporting options increase by 28% the number of charts users can view to monitor their IBM SVC and V7000 system performance.

"The latest addition of 22 charts and 23 metrics expands Galileo’s infrastructure monitoring options to 242 charts and 293 metrics across AIX, Linux, and Windows servers and SVC, V7000, and DS3/4/5K storage systems," says Tim Conley, co-founder and principal partner for the ATS Group. "Additional charting agents for IBM XIV, DS8K, SONAS and GPFS storage are scheduled for upcoming Galileo releases."

New built-in displays also put hardware configuration and storage capacity data at a user’s fingertips without having to log into the storage controller/system interface. Configuration data includes hardware attributes, firmware/software revisions, disk configurations, and array layout and sizes. Storage capacity data includes total storage capacity, used capacity, available capacity, and over-allocation of storage (when using thin-provisioning).

A new graphic display management feature enables custom scaling of the Y-axis for all Galileo charts. Users are free to assign maximum Y-axis values and scale charts to eliminate skewed views that can occur as the result of a single data point or ‘edge case.’

Both the new SVC/V7000 charts and the enhanced end-user interfaces are available for user evaluation via a free 30-day trial program.
