Emulex Delivers Multi-Fabric 8Gb FC and 10GbE Connectivity to Huawei

Emulex Corporation announced the Huawei MZ910 adapter, leveraging its Engine (XE)201 I/O Controller technology, which is capable of both FC and Ethernet-based connectivity.

The MZ910 delivers selectable 8Gb FC and 10GbE-based connectivity for the Huawei Tecal E9000 converged infrastructure blade servers.

The MZ910 adapter delivers four ports of either 8GFC, 10GbE, FCoE or iSCSI connectivity, enabling unique I/O density and HA configurations and provides the following benefits:

• Flexible, High Performance, SAN and LAN Connectivity: The MZ910 is a multi-fabric adapter with selectable 8GFC and 10GbE-based capabilities, allowing one adapter to do the work of a discrete FC HBA or an Ethernet NIC, with support and offload for FC and FCoE storage protocols, resulting in fewer cables, fewer switches, better power efficiency, reduced cooling, and easier LAN and SAN management.
• PCIe 3.0 support and 6x more IO/s In 8GFC mode: The MZ910 adapters support up to 1.2 million IO/s (Demartek Emulex LPe16000B 16Gb FC HBA Evaluation, October 2012); which is 6x more than other 8GFC adapters. These adapters also support PCIe 3.0, which provides a faster I/O bus, more PCIe lanes and increased I/O bandwidth, enabling these adapters to match the performance capabilities of server platforms based on the new Xeon processor E5-2600 product family.
• Increased VM Densities: The Emulex XE201 leverages Emulex vScale for scalability, supporting up to 255 virtual functions, 1,024 Message Signal Interrupts Extended, and 8,192 concurrent logins and open exchanges, enabling support for more VMs per server.
• I/O Management: The MZ910 running in FC or 10GbE mode uses a single driver, and can be controlled, configured and managed from a single console using Emulex OneCommand Manager, enabling enterprise scalability with time-saving features that provide more than twice the management functionality and take half the time to install and manage compared to other I/O solutions(Based on Emulex Labs benchmark testing). OneCommand Manager plug-in for VMware vCenter Server allows users to manage Emulex adapters across hundreds of servers, natively from the VMware vCenter Server console.
