Proact IT Sweden AB will supply a new
storage and backup platform to Swedish consumer electronics retailer SIBA AB.
To secure data availability, Proact has designed a solution for both primary
storage and backup. Under the agreement Proact will also deliver 24/7 support.
SIBA is a consumer electronics retailer in the Nordics. The company sells
products within sound and vision, data and telephony and also domestic and
personal care products. SIBA’s previous storage environment suffered from IT
sprawl, comprising of many different hardware suppliers. This resulted in
difficult and resource consuming data management. To address SIBA’s challenges,
Proact presented a new platform for both storage and backup.
"We
are in need of a smarter storage platform and also to consolidate everything
into one basket. With the new platform we get a unified environment which
will simplify most things. Deduplication functionality will enable both safer
and more effective storage. With so called ‘snapshot’
technology we will also be able to take smarter backups. We selected Proact as
they quickly demonstrated that they truly are storage experts. Proact conducted
a pre-study at no charge to secure that we got the right solution in place. The
local support has also been a deciding factor in our process,"
says Christer Olsson, IT manager, SIBA.
The primary storage is placed at SIBA’s head office and the backup solution is
located in a different geographical location. The solution includes
deduplication functionality, a technology enabling optimized disc utilization.
The new platform also enables SIBA to take snapshots of all critical
environments, securing access and availability in the day to day operations.
The backup solution on a secondary site will, apart from enabling secure,
effective and simple data management, also give SIBA a DR solution where SIBA can
restart the entire storage environment from the secondary site.
"In
our pre-study we wanted to secure that the client not only got a good solution,
but the best solution for their needs. If something should disrupt the primary
storage, the backup site can quickly get the storage up and running again. This
means that all data, systems and databases critical for SIBA’s operations are
always available. We also deliver 24/7 support which is an extra security for
SIBA," says Dan Mårtensson,
regional manager, Proact.
