Corp. and BlackBridge
Networks Ltd., a Canadian cloud and co-location provider,
announced an agreement to provide cloud-based enterprise backup as a
service for customers in Canada.
BlackBridge Stratus
Powered
by Quantum, it enables customers to protect data both locally and in
the company’s cloud, leveraging patented dedupe and virtual data
protection technologies. By teaming with Quantum, the company offers
an option for end-to-end managed data protection from the customer
premise to the cloud.
Enterprise customers can utilize
Stratus’ approach for as little as 1 cent/GB/month, assuming
typical dedupe ratios. Subscription pricing converts capital expense
to operating expense and allows customers to avoid the cost
associated with under-utilized hardware, making it cost-effective to
put an offsite backup and DR solution in place. Incorporating the
DXi-Series dedupe and the vmPRO virtual data protection technologies,
it provides backup of both physical and virtual infrastructures from
1TB up to 1PB of protected data. With Stratus, the company offers
the same enterprise data protection as Quantum’s Q-Cloud service in
the U.S., while guaranteeing that protected data will remain in
Canada.
Powered by Quantum, DXi and vmPRO
for Physical and Virtual Data Protection
DXi solutions offer dedupe
capabilities which change cloud backup economics. In addition,
DXi-Series appliances enable the service to work with existing backup
applications, including Backup Exec, CommVault, Data Protector,
NetBackup, Tivoli Storage Manager, Veeam and vRanger. Also, Quantum
vmPRO software allows customers to snapshot VMs and replicate them to
the company’s cloud.
As part of the Quantum-BlackBridge
agreement, the company will also offer Quantum’s backup and archive
products to Canadian customers, providing solutions from the data
center to the enterprise edge to the cloud.
Scott
Soenen, CTO, BlackBridge Networks, said: "With on-premise Quantum
DXi technology, BlackBridge Stratus customers get the speed and
convenience of local recovery with the security of cloud-based
backup. The BlackBridge Stratus solution contrasts with any cloud
service that requires customers to buy additional expensive hardware
as data grows, or to abandon prior investments as part of a ‘rip and
replace’ cloud-only approach."
Henrik Rosendahl, SVP, cloud solutions,
Quantum, said: "With BlackBridge Stratus –
Powered by Quantum, Canadian customers can now see the kind of
dramatic cost savings and security that customers have benefitted
from with Q-Cloud in the U.S. and elsewhere. Stratus sets a great
example for how to optimally leverage Quantum’s industry-leading
technology for data protection in the cloud."
