Danish Public Television TV 2 Implements Front Porch Digital

First DIVApublish mpx customer in Europe

Front Porch Digital, Inc. announced that Danish public television station TV 2 has integrated DIVApublish mpx, a SaaS publishing offering, into its video
delivery workflow.

DIVApublish mpx manages online publication of the broadcaster’s short-form
editorial video content, and TV 2 plans to manage delivery of premium content
stored in its DIVArchive CSM system in the second phase of implementation. The
use of DIVApublish mpx will speed TV 2’s time to market for new online features
and functionality, such as Facebook sharing, to give it an edge in the market.
TV 2 is Front Porch Digital’s first DIVApublish mpx customer in Europe.

"We had been using our own online
video platform that we developed for that purpose years ago, but we couldn’t
move the platform forward fast enough to implement the new features and
functionality our viewers have come to expect from a company like ours,
"
said Tenna Gaarde Falkenby, technical lead of TV 2’s online technical team.
"We have a long relationship with
Front Porch Digital and knew the company had the expertise to help us keep up
with – and even get ahead of – market demands.
"

Currently, the editorial staff uses TV 2’s own interface for the manual upload
of short-form video, including self-produced news content, from a variety of
sources. That interface communicates directly with the DIVApublish mpx API,
which initiates the online-publication workflow in DIVApublish mpx. DIVApublish
mpx, which integrates with TV 2’s chosen ad provider, CDN, and other
mechanisms, controls transcoding to multiple formats in order to reach a wide
spectrum of devices.

TV 2 plans to link DIVApublish mpx to its DIVArchive CSM system,
where its premium content is stored, so that DIVApublish mpx can handle
delivery for TV 2’s subscription service, as well. This move will help TV 2
automate the process of publishing media into a premium service and maximize
the potential of its archive. TV 2 chose DIVApublish mpx over other online
video platforms in part because of its ability to evolve and eventually
integrate directly with the archive.

"After talking with other vendors,
we found that Front Porch Digital was better able to understand our vision for
what we wanted to do in the long term,
" Falkenby said. "We needed a system that would evolve over
time to match that vision. Front Porch Digital not only got it, but had a
platform that was built for it.
"

Up and running in about four months, DIVApublish mpx also met the need to match
the metadata structure TV 2 had already established in its homegrown system.
Matching this structure was a critical item on TV 2’s list of technical
criteria.
