ASUSTOR Inc., has
added Usenet download and media streaming tools to its App
Central library.
These apps include SABnzbdplus, Sick Beard, CouchPotato,
Headphones, and Subsonic. All users are welcome to try out these apps
as they are available free of charge from the company’s App Central.
It contains over 90 apps that users can install to add
functionality to their NAS devices. App categories include business,
project collaboration, website construction and digital home
entertainment.
"App Central is an excellent platform that allows our
users to add different types of functionality to their NAS devices.
We are very excited to be adding these new Apps to our expanding
lineup," said Steve
Huang, product manager, ASUSTOR. "Adding Usenet download and
media streaming functionality allows us to continue to meet the
differing demands of all our users."
The released apps are summarized as follows:
- SABnzbdplus:
A
cross-platform binary newsreader. It makes downloading from Usenet
simple and streamlined by automating the process. All you have to do
is add an .nzb file and the app takes over from there, where it will
be downloaded, verified, repaired, extracted and filed away with zero
human interaction.
- Sick
Beard: A video recorder for newsgroup users. It watches
for episodes of your favorite shows and when they are posted it
downloads them, sorts and renames them, and optionally generates
metadata for them.
- CouchPotato:
An
automatic NZB and torrent downloader. You can create a ‘want to
watch’ list and it will search through multiple NZBs and torrents
sites, looking for the best possible match. Once a match is found it
will send it to SABnzbd or download the file to a specified
directory.
- Headphones:
A
SABnzbd add-on that automates your music downloading. It allows you
to import your favorite artists from iTunes, and keep an eye out for
any new albums they might be releasing.
- Subsonic:
Free, web-based media streamer, providing access to the
music on your NAS. You can use it to listen to your own music, share
music with friends and even stream to multiple player simultaneously.
