Riverbed Granite Storage Expected to Get EMC E-Lab Qualification
On VNX, in 2Q13
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 17, 2013 at 2:53 pmRiverbed Technology, Inc. announced that its Granite storage delivery
solutions are expected to receive EMC E-Lab
qualification with EMC VNX in the second quarter of 2013, enabling customers to
extend the benefits of the data center to global branch offices.
The Granite storage delivery solutions consolidate edge data to the
secure data center, while delivering local performance and data access to
branch offices. This approach improves security, data protection, and
performance, all while reducing the TCO of branch infrastructure. This news
builds upon EMC E-Lab qualifying Granite 1.0 with EMC VMAX in 2012.
"Increasingly IT is in the data
center but business is at the edge. This is as a result of three major changes
that are taking place at the edge – the rapid launch of business services that
require agility, new data sources that generate critical information, and
operations in a global economy where there are varying concerns in regions over
intellectual property, security and privacy," said Rick Villars, VP, datacenter
and cloud, IDC. "As a result, a
critical part to making businesses grow in the future is a reliable, low cost,
consistent and agile infrastructure. One of the ways to achieve this and
address the problem is with solutions like Riverbed Granite, EMC VMAX and EMC
VNX storage solutions that enable organizations to improve the use of IT at a
lower cost, reduce IT staff and third party costs, cut deployment and upgrade
time and dramatically improve data protection and retention practices."
"Riverbed
and EMC work together to provide enterprises with innovative solutions that
change the way organizations think about IT," said Pete Conway,
SVP/COO, enterprise storage division, EMC. "Together, the EMC and Riverbed solutions greatly improve data security,
backup, and management of branch servers and data and enables organizations to
instantly recover, in the case that disaster strikes."
"The combination of Riverbed Granite
with EMC VNX or VMAX solutions enable IT to pull branch data from the edge and
manage it centrally while lowering costs, reducing risk and improving security,
without sacrificing the performance needed by employees in edge locations,"
said John Martin, SVP and GM, storage delivery business unit, Riverbed.
Riverbed has participated at the EMC World
2013 Conference, on May 6-9 in Las Vegas. At the conference, Riverbed showcased
how Granite extends the benefits of the data center to global branch office,
and how Steelhead WAN optimization solutions
enable enterprises to more cost-effectively manage large-scale data
center-to-data center replication.
