Proact to Supply Disk System to Lappset
EMC VNX5300 with Connectrix DS-300B
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 17, 2013 at 2:50 pmProact IT Group AB has supplied a storage system to Lappset Oy.
Proact also replaced Lappset’s SAN network switches at the same time.
"We already had a similar storage setup, but
this used previous generation equipment and was five years old. We were running
out of capacity, and the maintenance agreement was getting more and more
expensive because our hardware was getting older. These were our most important
reasons for replacing the systems," explains Vesa Takala, leader of
the Lappset IT management team.
The new system supplied to Lappset was dimensioned on the basis of the
performance analysis of the old system.
"Tenders nowadays involve transferring huge
image and video volumes. Using such images and videos has massively increased
the need for capacity. So we explained to the company how they could achieve
savings using cheaper, smarter technology," says Jouni Tuhsales
manager at Proact.
"The supply contract covered a
period of three months, and things clicked into place perfectly. We were even
brave enough to replace the disk system mid-week as so much care had been taken
over advance preparations," says Vesa Takala.
Proact supplied Lappset with a centralised storage system (EMC VNX5300) and SAN
network switches (EMC Connectrix DS-300B).
