Having tried competitive solutions from Veeam and VMware VDP, Johnson County
selected PHD for its ease of implementation, fast restores, set-it and
forget-it methodology, stability and deduplication ratios of
25:1.

Johnson County has implemented PHD Virtual Backup 6.2 with the intent to
utilize the new CloudHook technology for offsite backups to the cloud in the
coming months, which will help the country achieve its goal of a tape free
environment. PHD Virtual is a solution offering local VM backup capabilities and provide a link to
public or private cloud storage for offsite backups, delivering powerful, feature-filled, backup solution for virtual
servers at a fraction of the cost of competitive alternatives.

The PHD Virtual Backup Appliance (VBA) provides an easy-to-configure option in
the cloud that removes the complexity. Getting set up is quick – one
click in the console backups data to the customer’s choice of popular third
party cloud providers, such as Amazon, Google, Rackspace or another
private/public cloud provider storage. All provide the flexibility to scale as
storage needs increase.

"We
found PHD Virtual Backup while researching a replacement for tape backup. We
looked at other competitive solutions and found them more complex and difficult
to set up. With PHD, we were able to implement the whole solution in one hour,
"
said Chris Holt, systems administrator, Johnson County. "We have done several file level restores
since and it’s virtually instant, taking under a minute with a bonus that we
are seeing fantastic deduplication rates of 25:1. Best of all, PHD has helped
us phase tape out of our environment completely. I am very happy that we
discovered PHD Virtual and look forward to implementing cloudHook next.
