To San Francisco's Hamilton Family Center

has donated its cloud-connected backup and recovery services to Hamilton Family Center, a San
Francisco nonprofit that is focused on ending homelessness for families and
individuals in the Bay Area.
The contribution comes on the heels of EVault’s announcement last month of its
ongoing corporate responsibility campaign, through which EVault and its
employees work with nonprofits to expand their reach and improve the lives of
those in need.
Hamilton Family Center has four locations in San Francisco, CA as well as four
physical servers and 12 virtual servers to support those locations. Hamilton is
enrolled in a program with The San Francisco Foundation, a community
philanthropy organization, which provides support funds to community based
organizations in the case of disaster. To qualify for this assistance, Hamilton
Family Center is required to prove that it is backing up data and has a DR plan
in place.
The nonprofit had been using tape-based backup for years but found it
time-consuming, labor-intensive and unreliable. To help Hamilton Family Center
meet its DR needs and ensure BC, EVault has donated 3TB of its cloud
storage service for backup in the EVault cloud as well as the EVault cloud DR
Service, with a 24-hour SLA that allows the nonprofit to get backup and running
within a day
"With tape backup we felt like we
were living in the Stone Age. Every night we had to rotate the tapes and take
them offsite. The process was inefficient and reliability was an issue,"
said Diane Luther, executive director at Hamilton Family Center. "The stakes at Hamilton Family Center are
different than for most businesses; families depend on us for support and we
can’t help them as well if our systems are down. With EVault’s cloud-based
backup and recovery services, backups are fast, automatic and pain-free and we
can be certain that, in the event of a disaster, we can be backup and helping
our families in a short time."
EVault SaaS is a cloud-connected backup and recovery service that securely and reliably protects critical data and makes it accessible through
the Internet without additional capital or IT expenses. EVault cloud DR Service
is a managed service that helps businesses recover their critical
systems after a disaster and gain remote access to them in a secure,
purpose-built cloud.
"EVault has a strong commitment to
giving back to our community through service. Whether it’s through the
volunteer efforts of our employees or through donations, we understand the
importance of lending a hand to those in need," said Terry Cunningham,
president and GM, EVault. "We’re
confident that with the help of our cloud-based backup and recovery services,
in the event of a disaster Hamilton Family Center will be able to continue
providing their services to the families who rely on them for support."
Hamilton Center was founded in 1985 with the mission to end homelessness for
families in San Francisco. It has since become one of the largest providers of
shelter, eviction prevention assistance, rapid re-housing, youth programming
and support services to homeless families in San Francisco, CA.
