Event2Log NetDescribe Appliance Capturing 500,000 Events per Second
For big data retention
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 10, 2013 at 2:45 pmIn answer to the growing demand for big data retention, IT-performance specialist NetDescribe GmbH announced the Event2Log at this year’s End User Conference in Frankfurt (16th of May).
The Event2Log solution has been designed to ensure seamless event data capturing without packet loss as well as high-volume storage in line with compliance requirements. Each appliance retains far more than 500,000 events per second.
The captured data is stored in a modular system with a capacity that can reach several petabytes if required. The solution enables organizations (e.g. businesses or public authorities) to comply with legal provisions and specifications for event data capturing, storage and documentation. Thanks to its productivity, the solution is qualified for telecommunication service providers whose CG NAT devices overrun the capacity of traditional data retention systems.
Since a single Event2Log appliance can replace 30 conventional capturing systems, the less-than-ideal solution of bloated server parks is over. By this, organizations can minimize data center resources (energy, cooling, rack space) and reduce payroll and operating expenses. Event2Log can be combined with existing solutions to form an integrated overall solution for effective Big Data management.
Modular architecture
Event2Log consists of dedicated modules running on a single appliance or in a distributed system using several appliances depending on customer requirements. The storage solution is embedded in the Event2Log architecture. Every single appliance handles 43 billion data packets per day. In order to enhance the performance even more, the appliances can be pooled. Depending on the need, the captured data can be stored on a centralized or decentralized basis. The solution allows the collection of customer specific protocols or data formats as well as standard Syslog or Radius protocols. Additionally, the system can also be used as stream-to-disk solution.
Data quality
In addition to the almost unlimited quantity of data being handled, Event2Log guarantees high data quality working with an algorithm that has been developed by NetDescribe. Without losing a single package, data is captured and made available for future analysis. The user has the option to define in advance which data is allocated to permanent storage. Using the integrated export interface, selected data can be forwarded to third-party systems for further processing or intelligence.
Data security
All data transfer going to the systems or being operated between them is secured by encryption. User authentication and a, authorization management prevent unwarranted insight into sensitive data. Moreover, Event2Log is geared to the particularly strict data protection and privacy regulations issued by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).
Transparency, documentation and supervision
The event data management including capturing, processing, storage, verified and complete data deletion is documented, transparent and verifiable. Moreover, all data is stored in standard formats and can be exported in ‘human readable’ format in order to meet compliance guidance.
