By Jean Jacques Maleval | May 6, 2013 at 2:49 pmScality, Paris, France has been assigned a patent (8,429,444) developed by seven co-inventors for a "multipurpose storage system based upon a distributed hashing mechanism with transactional support and failover capability."
The co-inventors are Vianney Rancurel, La Frette sur Seine, France, Olivier Lemarie, Sunnyvale, CA, Giorgio Regni, Paris, Alain Tauch, Montrouge, France, Benoit Artuso, Jonathan Gramain, Paris, Francean d Bertrand Demiddelaer, Levaillois-Perret, France.
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "A multipurpose storage system based upon a distributed hashing mechanism with transactional support and failover capability is disclosed. According to one embodiment, a system comprises a client system in communication with a network, a secondary storage system in communication with the network, and a supervisor system in communication with the network. The supervisor system assigns a unique identifier to a first node system and places the first node system in communication with the network in a location computed by using hashing. The client system stores a data object on the first node system."
The patent application was filed on Dec. 17, 2009 (12/640,373).
