Amazon
Redshift is a fully managed, petabyte-scale data warehouse service that
makes it simple and cost-effective to analyze all your data using
your existing business intelligence tools.
The service is optimized
for analyzing data sets of several hundred gigabytes to a petabyte or more and can
provide better performance for less than one tenth the price of most
data warehousing solutions available. It also frees
from all the muck associated with provisioning, monitoring, backing
up, patching, securing, and scaling your data warehouse.
High Storage Instances are an Amazon
EC2 instance type that is for customers whose applications
require high sequential read and write performance over very large
data sets.
High Storage instances provide customers with 35 EC2
Compute Units (ECUs) of compute capacity, 117GB of RAM, and 48TB
of storage across 24 HDD drives, delivering over 2.4Gb/s of
sequential I/O performance.
Amazon Redshift and Amazon EC2 High
Storage Instances are now available in US East (N. Virginia), US West
(Oregon) and EU West (Ireland), with additional regions coming soon.
