With IT reliability, patient care
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 30, 2013 at 2:55 pmGreenBytes,
Inc. announced that Hospital Maasziekenhuis Pantein, a
Dutch healthcare provider, has selected the its IO Offload Engine to
keep its critical IT systems performing at optimal levels.
By using GreenBytes, the hospital, which serves 135,000 outpatient and 10,000
in-patient visits annually, realizes improvements in patient care
and operational efficiencies, while saving money and reducing the burden on IT.
"We are
pleased that such a prominent institution as Hospital Maasziekenhuis Pantein is
relying on GreenBytes to ensure reliability and performance of
business-critical IT systems," said Brett Johnson, SVP, global sales,
GreenBytes. "The GreenBytes IO
Offload Engine is ideal for growing organizations like Hospital Maasziekenhuis
Pantein that need a simple, cost-effective and powerful way to get more out of
their existing infrastructure."
"The
decision to go with GreenBytes was easy. The IO Offload Engine was clearly the
best solution for our performance problems, the price was right, and it came
highly recommended by our trusted technology advisor, InterExperts BV,"
said Charles Eringfeld, ICT manager for Hospital Maasziekenhuis Pantein. "With its unique combination of inline
deduplication and compression on SSD, we were able to get extraordinarily
better performance from our storage and Citrix XenApp systems, and still have
plenty of room for growth."
Garth Lahana, systems and storage administrator at
Hospital Maasziekenhuis Pantein, added: "Our staff is very happy with their digital workspace now that the
GreenBytes IO Offload Engine is in production. Their workspace is stable and responds
very swiftly. Our clinicians and administrators can reliably access the
resources and data they need. Equally important, our IT environment now enables
us to provide the excellent care that patients expect and deserve."
Hospital
Maasziekenhuis Pantein has realized benefits
from its GreenBytes implementation, including:
- Boosted XenApp reliability, eliminated lost
connections: The hospital enjoys 30% higher IO/s during peak usage. It uses
about 15% of the write IO/s limits‚ – 15,000 out of 90,000. Instead of stalling
and booting users off the system, as it did in the past, XenApp runs reliably
all the time. - Patient and employee satisfaction,
cut helpdesk tickets in half: With
XenApp and mission-critical applications performing as required, workers
are able to do their jobs and serve patients without interruptions caused by
slow or unresponsive systems, and the ICT staff can meet SLAs and aren’t
overwhelmed with helpdesk calls. The number of helpdesk tickets related to
XenApp sessions decreased by 50% since GreenBytes was deployed. - Decreased storagen eeds by 80%: The hospital realized a 5:1
reduction in its XenApp storage requirements. Instead of one trabyte of data, it now
only stores just 200GB. The hospital was able to use its existing
NetApp SAN without having to purchase additional spindles and cabinets, or
invest in a totally new SAN‚ both of which options would have consumed much
more space and power. Plus, there is room for expansion.
