Music Choice Opting for Drobo

Drobo, Inc announced that Music Choice, Inc., the multi-platform
video and music network delivering music to millions of homes nationwide, has
leveraged Drobo’s B1200i series to backup and protect more than 200TBs of
audio and video content so that it can better keep pace with the growing demand
for its music while ensuring HA and data protection.

Music Choice is a large integrated music companies and a provider of
a range of digital-music consumer services in the world. It supplies a range of music and video channels including Hit List, Hip Hop and R&B,
Rock and Today’s Country to a range of cable and other providers including
Comcast, Time Warner, Verizon FiOS
and AT&T U-verse.

The company previously hosted its second copy of multi-media audio and video
files on a combination of tape and hard drives, but needed a more efficient
system to access these files rapidly, decrease complexity and lower operating
expenses. It was essential that any new storage solution be easy to implement,
scale rapidly and require minimum IT management.

With B1200i, Music Choice was able to install the high-density units and manage them from a
single interface at a low cost per terabyte in addition to accelerating the access to
the music and video data.

In an independent test by ESG Labs, the B1200i "proved strong streaming performance of nearly 300MB/s for data
protection, video on demand, and other capacity-oriented applications."
