Walter Angerer Board’s Director, Quorum

Quorum, Inc., provider of one-click backup, recovery and continuity for SMBs, announced that Walter Angerer, venture partner at Toba Capital and longtime data protection innovator with roots at Symantec, has joined Quorum’s board of directors.

  As a board member, Angerer plans to help drive Quorum’s one-click backup, recovery and continuity technology forward and continue building on the company’s reputation in DR.

"Given his tenure at Symantec, Walter’s new alignment with Quorum is an interesting industry move – although not altogether surprising: Walter is a longtime champion of DR innovation, and foresaw how an agile company like Quorum is able to solve the rapid recovery problem and bring innovative solutions to market so quickly," said Ashar Baig, founder, principal research analyst and consultant, Analyst Connection. "In joining Quorum’s board, Walter will be a part of a company that is effective in addressing the market need for being able to recover rapidly from a disaster – something legacy vendors as yet have been unable to address."

Walter’s board appointment comes as a result of his more than 15 years’ experience in the software industry and more than eight years’ experience leading innovation in DR. Now a venture partner at Toba Capital (which led Quorum’s $11 million series B funding round last month), he previously served as SVP and GM for Quest Data Protection, working alongside Vinny Smith. Prior to Quest, he held a number of positions at Symantec, including VP responsible for NetBackup engineering. During this time, he was responsible for the creation of Symantec’s Open Storage program and later for the creation and launch of the NetBackup Appliance program and BackupExec.Cloud. Notably, Angerer’s innovation in the Symantec Appliance program resulted in the generation of a several hundred million-dollar business for the company.
