Tbox is an all-in-one, high-performance shared storage appliance that is easy to use, optimized and self-managed. It is for video and film editing, color grading, special FX and as well as on-set 2K and 4K dailies, and other facilities that consume an inordinate amount of storage, yet operate on very low IT staff.

At NAB, the company will introduce support for 10Gb FCoE and 16Gb FC connectivity; expansion chassis for total capacity of up to 320TB; as well as the projectStore PRO and Archiving software modules.

"By taking 1Gb/10GbEt, as well as 8Gb/16Gb FC to a whole new level of performance and simplicity, Tbox is the SAN solution that creative and support staff has, up to now, only been dreaming of," notes Alexander Lefterov, CEO at Tiger Technology. "Multiple workstations can direct-connect to Tbox using the most efficient block-level data transfers for up to 4K playback. If more workstations need to connect to Tbox, an external switch can easily be added. There is no per-seat license cost."

Tbox continuously checks, defrags and optimizes the SAN file system so it is always able to deliver optimal performances. It ships standard with projectStore, a software tool that enhances the collaborative workflows by allowing easy creation and management of an unlimited number of virtual volumes that can be configured as private or shared workspaces.

"More than just another shared storage appliance, Tbox is a sophisticated digital storage hub that is designed to smooth out the most complex video production workflows," adds Bernard Lamborelle, director of sales at Tiger Technology. "With its support for Avid bin locking, projectStore represents a great alternative to Avid Unity for those seeking a more affordable solution that also delivers superior performance."

The new projectStore PRO module will be introduced at NAB to further enhance collaborative workflows capabilities of Tbox with the addition of ‘content-aware’ technology.

"By automatically parsing projects and creating media proxies, projectStore PRO allows editors to quickly locate clips, sequences and projects using advanced metadata-based searches," highlights Lefterov. "projectStore PRO lets users playback any clip stored on Tbox over a regular internet connection so editors, producers and director of photography can all collaborate much more effectively".

The new Archiving module, also introduced at NAB, allows Tbox to expand its storage pool to low cost NAS or IBM LTFS Tape Libraries. Files that are not used for a given period of time can automatically be moved to a lower tier of storage, all while remaining visible as part of the Tbox storage pool. When applications or users access these files, Tbox’s Archiving module automatically recalls the file locally for speedy access.

The Tbox all-in-one shared storage appliance is available through a select network of qualified sales partners. The new projectStore PRO and Archive modules are scheduled to ship in Q2.
