Gladinet Cloud Enteprise to Expose SAN Storage as Private Cloud

For MSPs and enterprises

With the release of Gladinet Cloud Enterprise, Gladinet, Inc. has provided MSPs and enterprises with the capability to access SAN storage as a private cloud.

Service providers often find their SAN storage underutilized because they must purchase additional capacity in anticipation of future needs. Exposing an underutilized SAN as private cloud storage can create additional revenue streams that increase their ROI.

Gladinet Cloud Enterprise uses cloud storage to provide file sharing, synchronization, backup and mobile access. Traditionally, this cloud storage could be provided by any public cloud or by a private cloud based on Openstack or solutions from companies like EMC or Nirvanix. With the current release, Gladinet Cloud Enterprise can also be configured to use an existing SAN as its storage source.

Jerry Huang, Gladinet’s CEO, stated: "Many of our partners are service providers who are interested in maximizing the value of their existing infrastructure. With Gladinet Cloud Enterprise, they are able to leverage their existing SAN storage for cloud backup, file sharing and synchronization. Essentially, we give them the ability to deploy a private, Dropbox-like solution using their SAN storage. And this SAN-based cloud storage or SAN cloud offers their customers all the capabilities of public online storage access solutions."

Once the SAN cloud storage solution has been deployed by a service provider, customers can facilitate remote access to file server data from a variety of mobile devices, web browsers and laptops. Furthermore, remote devices can connect to on-premise storage without using a VPN. They will also be able to access the SAN cloud storage with familiar paradigms like file shares and desktop drives or folders.
