Google, Inc., Mountain View, CA, has been assigned a patent (8,375,124) developed by Michael F. Schwartz, Seattle, WA, for a "resumable upload for hosted storage systems."
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "An initial portion of an object is received at a hosted storage system. The initial portion of the object is stored at the hosted storage system. After receiving the initial portion of the object, a timer is started. Prior to the expiration of the timer, whether an additional portion of the object is received at the hosted storage system is determined. The initial portion is deleted upon the expiration of the timer if the additional portion is not received. The timer is reset if the additional portion is received."

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "A data object is stored in a hosted storage system and includes an access control list specifying access permissions for data object stored in the hosted storage system. The hosted storage system provides hosted storage to a plurality of clients that are coupled to the hosted storage system. A request to store a second data object is received. The request includes an indicator that the first data object stored in the hosted storage system should be used as an access control list for the second data object. The second data object is stored in the hosted storage system. The first data object is assigned as an access control list for the second data object stored in the hosted storage system."
