Free 30-Day Trial of Crunch De-Dupe for DPM 2010/2012 at BridgeSTOR

BridgeSTOR, LLC announced release of a downloadable trial version the CRUNCH Virtual Deduplication Appliance, its 2nd generation deduplication and compression technology for Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM 2010/2012).

Delivered as a VHD, CRUNCH runs as a virtual appliance in Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V systems and can co-reside with DPM in a single physical server.

The Virtual Appliance trial is a fully-featured software product with no limitations or restrictions beyond the 30-day trial time period.

The CRUNCH for DPM download enables users of Microsoft’s server and workstation data protection product to understand and evaluate the benefits of storing deduplicated data onsite in the data center and offsite for DR, archive and long term data retention.

By offering a range of data deduplication strategies, CRUNCH for DPM can reduce or eliminate the disk requirements of short-term DPM storage pools by adding a new long-term disk storage pool operating as virtual tape without relinquishing DPM functionality or operational convenience.

BridgeSTOR’s capacity optimization is the response to DPM’s voracious storage appetite.

In addition to reducing DPM capacity requirements, CRUNCH supplies agentless backup for NFS and CIFS clients that are currently unprotected by DPM. NFS, CIFS and DPM data can be stored on disk, tape and/or in the cloud – all in CRUNCH-deduplicated format.

CRUNCH for DPM is offered through a BridgeSTOR Deduplication as a Service (DaaS) subscription. Using DaaS, a user signs up for a period of time, receives value over that period and then, at the end of the subscription period determines whether or not to renew. If the customer decides not to renew they will always be able to recover data. DaaS customers pay only for the services provided. No CAPEX is required because BridgeSTOR’s DaaS is a pure OPEX offering.
