Fujitsu Integrates LTO-6 in Eternus LT Tape Libraries
From 8 to 24 cartridges, 1 to 4 drives
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 27, 2013 at 3:08 pmFujitsu Technology Solutions announces that ETERNUS LT S2 tape libraries maximize capacity and speed of retrieval of backed-up or archived data at a lower media cost than using disk storage alone, thanks to supporting LTO-6.
ETERNUS LT60 S2 has a maximum capacity
of 120TB native with up to 2 x 12 cartridges,
up to 2 drives in FH, 4 drives in HH.
Businesses following a mixed-media strategy continue to enjoy the advantages that tape is often safer to use as a storage medium as it is offline, and so can’t be infected by a destructive virus or Trojan, and is more fault-tolerant than an array. With no data storage limit for any given infrastructure, tape is often a more flexible choice for smaller businesses.
The ETERNUS LT tape systems offer scalability and reliability. Highly automated, simple and remote operation enables usage without expert skills.
LTO-6 drives can hold up to 2.5TB natively or 6.25TB of compressed data. Compared with previous generation LTO-5 drives, the LTO-6 technology offers more than double capacity (with compression) and a 40% performance boost.
ETERNUS LT S2 tape libraries are available. They are sold via direct sales or channel partners.
