BackupAgent From Nederland Enables Backup to Azure

Software for service providers

As the ongoing battle for lowering storage
costs continues, the provider of cloud backup software for service providers BackupAgent BV announces its integration with
Microsoft’s Windows Azure.

With this new major feature the company enables
service providers of all shapes and sizes to stay competitive in the cloud
backup market.

The integration is twofold; the
BackupAgent Cloud Backup Platform – including the service management console –
can be hosted in a high available (load balanced) setup on Azure VMs.
Apart from the savings on hardware investments, this configurationmanages resources and ensures optimal service during backup peak hours.

The other part of the integration is the storage of backup data that can be
outsourced to the Azure storage platform. One of the benefits is
that this fits in BackupAgent’s pay-as-you-grow philosophy; you always pay for
what usage, no overhead. On the other hand it makes it easy to store backups on
multiple physical locations all over the world. This redundancy reduces latency
and adds value to the backup proposition.

"This integration is a great asset for our Partners who are currently facing
challenges in keeping their storage costs competitive. We see a great demand
for this feature as backup data is growing more than ever,
" says
Roland Sars, chief commercial officer of BackupAgent.

BackupAgent CTO, Robbert van Geldrop adds: "From
all cloud platforms we have chosen for Windows Azure because it offers an excellent
set of features to configure the platform and our Partners can have the best
price for their storage. For this integration we have also made a lot of
improvements on the storage of data, this is also beneficial for our Partners
using their platform with local backup storage.
"

The integration with Windows Azure will be
presented on WorldHostingDays
Global, in Rust, Germany on March 19th, by Roland Sars.
