For integrated ingest management solution

Matrix Ltd announces that Glookast, in
MXF workflow applications, has joined its growing community of
technology partners.
This partnership provides Object Matrix customers with an ingest
management solution that is integrated with MatrixStore, Object Matrix’s
nearline solution, at an API level.
With more content pouring into studios,
facilities and broadcasters there is more of a requirement for integrated
solutions that offer levels of automation that provide repeatable workflows and
processes bringing with it inherent improvements in efficiency.
The bottleneck in many organisations
is
at the point of ingest:
- Where to store all the content as there is little or no room on the
production storage - How to create various formats and wrappers during the ingest process
-
How to create links between full resolution and low resolution content from
within the production environment
Glookast products resolve the file-based workflow challenges that organisations
face on a daily basis. At NAB 2013 in Las Vegas, Object Matrix and Glookast
plan to unveil the core technology that will enable substantial improvements in
workflow while reducing total investment in infrastructure.
The integrated solution will provide the
following functionality:
- Parking of high resolution material to MatrixStore and sending of low
resolution proxies to the online storage (such as Avid ISIS) thus reducing
online storage costs. -
Enable content to be checked-in to Avid Interplay and automatically re-link the
low resolution and high resolution clips during conform. -
Parking high resolution finished content to MatrixStore in news-based workflows
in order that journalists may access content for re-use or re-versioning before
being sent to deeper LTO archive.
"Today’s digital production trends
require massive amounts of storage, especially in Reality TV, sitcoms, and
drama production environments. This translates into much higher costs for both
equipment and infrastructure. As a result, users are looking to reduce storage
costs by ‘parking’ high resolution media into highly reliable, yet
lower cost nearline systems. The collaboration between Glookast and Object
Matrix targets a tight integration of the ingest, parking, editing, finishing
and nearline archiving processes by means of a reliable workflow that is
capable of reducing the online storage footprint and consequently the overall
production cost," said Guilherme Da Silva, CEO, Glookast.
Glookast main product line, the Gloobox family, fits diverse workflows, from
production to broadcast and distribution and includes four main products:
-
Capturer is an SDI-based solution that allows the creation and ingest
of up to three simultaneous resolutions (low resolution, working resolution,
and finishing resolution). -
Ingester is a multi-destination, template driven ingest solution with
multi-stream, multi-resolution, and multi-codec capabilities. -
Contributor extends the Ingester functionality to the capture of
digital media from mobile device applications. -
Moover offers a software only solution for inter-platform secure file
transfers and outgest workflows.
"Our
customers are constantly striving for automated, repeatable and efficient
workflows that enable their technical teams to focus elsewhere in the business.
The Glookast team brings that automated workflow with their highly innovative
suite of tools that are forged from years of expertise and experience working
with MXF-based workflows. The market is calling for choice from ingest to
archive but it also wants those elements to work in harmony so we are very
excited to be working with the team at Glookast who have embedded the
MatrixStore API into their products," said Nick Pearce, co-founder, Object Matrix.
The
MatrixStore provides functionality that is perfectly suited to the ingest of
file-based content. It is scalable, secure and can lock down rushes from
accidental deletion until the production process is complete. With digital
fingerprinting of content, continuous data verification and meta-data
extraction, it provides producers with the peace of mind that their content is
not only protected in two locations but is also guaranteed to be authentic.
MatrixStore is currently in use as a secure rushes repository in broadcasters
and post-productions facilities across Europe.
The integrated solution is available direct from Object Matrix and Glookast’s network of resellers.
